Kody is a 15-year-old Domestic Shorthair Cat in Warren, OH, who needs $2,000 for Liver Disease.

Driving by a house I saw at the driveway's end a tiny black ball. I thought it was a sock! My mom said "Was that a cat?" We had to turn around. A skinny 4 week old kitten head hanging low, was nearly in the road. I picked him up, went to the house but the woman said, "That's just one of those ol' river cats." She didn't want him but I couldn't leave him there to die! That is how Kody became cat #3

Kody was supposed to go to a shelter but we got attached. We had one 3 yr old cat and a 5 mo. old kitten I found earlier that year. Kody likes to visit our neighbors. He's fond of snoozing in their tiger lilies. I found out he made friends with an elderly neighbor. He says Kody is the nicest cat and let's him in to sleep in his lap. Knowing this touched me. Kody can't move much now. He just lays.

Kody is a sweet boy. If you have a lap he must be in it; he won't take no! If ignored he will press his head to your arm until petted. He likes to be near us, either in our laps or beds. He was the fastest eater I ever saw. He ate like a dog! Kody likes to "nurse" on anything soft. He has a special blanket we call his "suck blanket". It can be cute or gross if he decides to use one of our blankets

At 15, Kody was in great health. This year he became picky. He never turned down food before. He lost weight and several months ago his abdomen began filling with fluid. His blood work showed his liver enzymes are off but we don't know what's causing this. He needs treatment and more testing to determine! Kody is uncomfortable, nauseous, has difficulty moving but he still purrs and wants cuddles!

Kody is my mom's cat. A few yrs ago she retired after getting Covid. She has far less money now. She never was a cat person but said she'd miss him purring and making biscuits in her lap. Sept. 3 marked 15 yrs to the day we found a skinny ugly kitten. He deserves more yrs!
