Koi is a 5 year old Russian Blue in Brookdale, CA, who needs $2,000 for MRI, Bloodwork, Anesthesia.

4yrs ago, I had been feeding 2young feral cats nightly. Then 1night, I noticed 1cat was gone & the other cried outside my window all night. Having lost my dear Wilmie 1yr earlier, I was hesitant but couldn't ignore this kitten's pleas! So I let him in the next night and named him Koi. Though challenging, caring for Koi has given me purpose and a reason to smile every single day. He is my light. 🩶

Koi's had involuntary muscle spasm episodes for 2yrs now (plz see last slide🔝for video of the 1st time I witnessed this). Gradually, the frequency & severity increased to 7x daily. Many vets& 2neurologists later, we've concluded they're seizures. We're currently managing them w/meds but we still need to find the cause in order to effectively diagnose & treat Koi. For this, a brain MRI is crucial.

Koi is shy w/new people but very boisterous &vocal w/me at home! He loves going on walks & hiking adventures! He's attuned to my emotions & is usually able to prevent my panic attacks by initiating affection & pressing his forehead against mine to calm me when I start to spiral. His favorite time of day is "treat ball time"! He's also learned the commands sit, stay, shake, spin, jump, & lie down!

Unable to work due to having BD & PTSD, I'm now in the complex, often frustrating process of securing disability benefits. Koi and I subsist on a monthly G.A. loan & food stamps. I prioritize Koi's expenses over my own because him being healthy & happy = me being just that!
