About this campaign
On Valentine's Day three years ago, we met Kona through her foster family. She had been surrendered at a shelter and needed a new home. For us, it was love at first sight and a valentine we never knew we needed! These past two years, she has become such an important part of our family. She is companion to our other rescue and a companion to our three young daughters.
On Valentine's day this year, Kona began vomiting repeatedly. Her x-ray showed that she had ingested a foreign body and that the object had become lodged in her small intestine with very little chance of it passing. In order for Kona to live, she needed to have emergency surgery and quickly. It was a holiday weekend and our options were limited. Thankfully, we found a hospital who could take her.
I did not understand the term "soul dog" until I met Kona, who is always by my side from the moment I wake up to the moment she wiggles her way onto our bed. My daughters read to her, snuggle with her, and look forward to her slobbery kisses every day. She is more than a pet to us, she is a best friend and a family member.
Making the decision to commit to her lifesaving surgery was hard for our family. My husband and I trying our best to make ends meet, but with three young daughters and some unforeseen expenses this year, we are at our limit. Even a small donation would be a relief.
