$1,500 Stands Between Kona and Relief

Meet Kona — a devoted, gentle soul who has spent the last 13 years by his family’s side. Now at 15 years old, this sweet Pitbull mix should be enjoying his golden years in comfort. Instead, he’s in pain—and he needs our help.

Kona is currently battling severe double ear infections, a painful abscess in his gum, and concerning facial swelling that may require further diagnostics. His discomfort is constant—head shaking, scratching, and the deep, lingering pain of infection that won’t resolve without medical care.

His veterinary team has recommended urgent treatment, including a cytology and deep ear cleaning to identify and treat the infection at its source. Because of the severity, Kona will likely need sedation to safely and thoroughly clean his ears and relieve the pressure and pain. At the same time, his dental abscess must be addressed through a full oral exam, possible drainage, and potentially even a biopsy to rule out more serious conditions.

These are not optional procedures—they are critical to easing Kona’s suffering and preventing his condition from worsening.

Kona’s family is doing everything they can, but they’re facing significant financial hardship. After a recent medical diagnosis left his dad unable to work and a job loss impacted their household, affording this urgent care has become overwhelming.

5/15/26 Update

Kona underwent surgery this week, and we’re so grateful to share that he is now recovering comfortably at home with his loving family by his side.

During his procedure, Kona received the deep ear cleaning and medical treatment he desperately needed to address his severe double ear infections and painful dental issues. After living with so much discomfort, he is finally beginning to experience some relief. His family says he already seems more comfortable and is resting peacefully as he heals.

At 15 years old, Kona has spent a lifetime giving unconditional love, loyalty, and comfort to the people who adore him most. Thanks to your compassion and generosity, they were able to say “yes” to the care he urgently needed during an incredibly difficult time for their family.
