Kramer is a 4-year-old Domestic shorthair cat in Oceanside, CA who needs $4,357 for high blood pressure, congestive heart failure and pain medications.

On 2/16/20 our cat Kramer showed signs of bladder blockage (frequent small urinations, vomiting, shaking).

We weren’t sure what it was at first and called a vet and explained the symptoms. We had to rush into the emergency and they discovered struvite crystals in his urine. Kramer was hospitalized for 48 hours.

Along with examinations and medications, the bill totaled to $3,722.16.

On 2/23/20 Kramer vomited and once again we took him into an emergency. The doctor prescribed additional meds and the visit was additional $222.95.

On 3/9/20 We took him to the emergency again as his symptoms came back again (frequent urination, small bladder, urinating outside his litter box). The doctor said as long as he is urinating he does not have a blockage however this may be caused by UTI post catheter. We were consulted to get his urine culture examined. This charge came out to be $412.85.

A little bit of our background, this is our first time owning cats and unfortunately we never had a thought of getting pet insurance until now.

We adopted Kramer from Humane Society a few years back with his sister, Cosmo.

As for us owners, we are both currently in school and working barely enough to pay off our monthly rent and loans. Living in Southern California rent alone is a huge financial constraint and this event hit us out of nowhere. We are learning a hard lesson to never neglect the importance of security for our loving cat.
