About this campaign
Laila was found emaciated and roaming the streets in Brooklyn. We don't know her story before us, but reactions to certain objects shows it was not great. The area she was picked up in is known for dog fighting. Adopted in 2015, she makes sure she is the center of everyone's attention. She has a yard in NJ and serves as a companion for a sick father.
Laila runs the household. She sleeps in the beds, snuggles on the couch, and was healed emotionally through love and patience. Since being adopted, her 'daddy' has been diagnosed with dementia. Thanks in part of Laila, his progression is slow. Laila provides constant movement in the house and companionship. The snuggle time the two get in the morning is very special but it's currently on hold.
Laila wants constant love and attention. She will give her paw in exchange for forehead kisses and pets. Her favorite way to snuggle is with her head or whole body on top of you. In the mornings she snuggles up to her dad on the bed and makes sure he isn't alone. She knows the difference between her rope and bone. Loving a good game of tug, she will present you with her favorites.
Vets at the Animal Hospital did X-rays to confirm she had ripped ligaments. A consultation confirmed she will need surgery and until then must limit activity/getting up on the couches and beds. Her surgery will include cutting the bone to allow for her knee to sit in place. She loves to be a dog, so right now she's on a sedative to keep her less active. Laila isn't herself.
Due to her size, her surgery will cost between 7-8k. My father's care is a couple thousand a month. This bill severely cuts into funds that are used for outside expenses and other emergency needs. We want her to have the surgery ASAP instead of waiting for us financially.
