Lando is a two-year-old Boxer Mix in El Centro, CA, who needs $2,000 for double knee surgery.

Daniela A. got a double whammy of bad news: First, she found out her beautiful dog, Lando, needs surgery to fix the ligaments in both his knees. Then her pet insurance company denied the claim for his operation. Now she and her husband are struggling to raise the money Lando needs to walk without pain.

"This is an unexpected medical expense that we weren't prepared for," Daniela tells Waggle. "We are responsible pet owners, with pet insurance, but due to a timeline issue, it won't cover. We are doing everything in our power to do this surgery for our dog (son) Lando, who we want healthy and happy."

Daniela and her husband adopted Lando when he was a puppy. Over the last couple of years, they have become so attached, and Lando has grown to despise the garbage truck. "We joke that Lando is the human, and my husband and I are his support animals," Daniela says. "He is such a character. Lando literally hates Monday because it is trash pick-up, and the trash truck is his worst enemy. Lando loves when friends come over and because he loves the attention. His favorite is car rides; he sticks his head out and enjoys the air. He will smile in pictures if you say cheeeese."

Lando's family is counting the days and dollars until they can get him surgery at Foothills Animal Hospital. Lando is very active, and not being able to walk well has been devastating. "Lando loves to have people over at the house. He loves the ladies, such a flirt. He is very protective but, at the same time, super friendly and playful. He loves to visit grandma because she gives him treats and basically spoils him. He is popular at our local pet stores because he is a regular, and he loves the attention."
