Layla is a 6-year-old Pitt Bull mix in Emerald Isle, NC, who needs $2,000 for urgent surgery.

Karlee T. rescued Layla. Then Layla rescued Karlee. And now they both need some rescuing!

Karlee tells Waggle she saved Layla from a shelter where she worked back in 2017.

"She was found roaming with no identification, so we are not sure of her background," Karlee says. "I fell in love instantly. Despite what I believe to be an abusive start to her life, she has always been full of love and trust."

Layla's bright and playful spirit was just what Karlee needed.

"Layla came into my life when I needed some light, and she has continued to be a force of strength in my life and everyone around her," Karlee says. "She loves everyone she meets and deserves the chance to live her best life with her mom, dad, grandpa, and fur siblings."

Recently Layla began limping. She ruptured her cranial cruciate ligament in both knees. Now Layla needs expensive surgery so she can walk again without pain. Seeing Layla suffer and be limited in what she can do is heartbreaking for Karlee.

"She cannot live life to the fullest. She cannot play at the beach, jump in bed for morning snuggles under the covers, or play with her brother," Karlee says.

Karlee is struggling to pay for Layla's surgery, and they hope generous pet lovers out there can help rescue them both!

"I spent October 2021 toMay 2022 remodeling my father's home to provide first-floor living access and moved home to provide him with more assistance," Karlee says. "Through this time, financials have been tight, and with the unexpected surgery cost, Layla and I need help. We thank you!"
