About this campaign

Layla arrived with a heartbreaking secret no one expected — a large, heavy tumor hanging from her backside.

This loving 6-year-old silver Lab should be worrying about belly rubs and cozy naps. Instead, she was surrendered to animal control because her family was moving and they neglected to mention the mass that has been growing on her for two years.

It wasn’t until Layla was brought out of the car that the full reality became clear. The tumor is large, uncomfortable, and affects her mobility. The tumor, however, doesn’t stop Layla from being the same gentle, trusting, and affectionate dog she had always been.

Today, in RBARI’s care, Layla is at the hospital preparing for surgery to remove the mass. As she begins this next step, she needs a place to heal. Home for the holidays has a very special meaning for Layla, it means comfort, care and a chance to heal.

Our veterinary team is cautiously hopeful. Layla’s bloodwork is encouraging, and we are hopeful the tumor has not spread. A biopsy will guide next steps, but this is only the beginning of her healing journey.

Through it all, Layla has been pure joy. She does her best to live a normal life while carrying pain she never should have known. Because of you, Layla won’t face surgery, or the future, alone. And then—once all is said and done—it's on to finding her what she deserves most: her Forever!

Please consider donating to help support Layla's recovery journey. Every ounce of support matters and is incredibly appreciated—by us, AND by Layla. 💛
