About this campaign
This is Layla, I adopted her over 6 years ago from a deploying military family. I kept her name first because I liked it, and second because I didn’t want her to have to learn a new name. She has 2 brothers, a 12yo German Sheppard named Major (who’s is also a rescue) and gizmo, a 6yo long hair chihuahua. She is loved by myself, along with her mom (my wife) and our 3 kids.
Layla is always..ALWAYS full of energy, non stop excitement, running around, playing. Just loves her family and doesn’t want to ever be away from us. She’s always taking spots in bed before you can get in it. This is a huge blow to the family and we want to do everything possible to help her get better.
Her hyper running zoomies are the best funniest thing about her. She’s wild and we love her for it. She’s always playful and laying with the kids, the kids love for her to go to bed with them because her cuddles are the best. She’s a little sneaky, trying to take the kids toys as her own and when we try to get them from her she runs outside as fast as can be.
She suddenly overnight lost function of her back legs, the vet did an x-Ray and said her C5 and C6 vertebrae are compacted together causing the nerves to be pinched and causing the immobilized situation of her back legs. They recommend a $10,000 MRI with surgery which is a 50/50 shot, or put her to sleep. I don’t want to give up on her but they’re more pushing putting her to sleep.
This is an unexpected unforeseen sudden situation. It’s a huge expense and my wife and I are just not financially set up for this kind of surgical expense. We are really hoping for help, I’m not giving up on our baby.
