About this campaign

Not sure about you -- but our hearts here at Waggle melted when we saw Leia!

"Leia is a Pembroke Welsh Corgi," says Sejal P., Leia's human mom. "She was given to us by our neighbor when she was a baby. Leia loves people more than other dogs, but she always makes an exception for her brother. They are named Luke and Leia, after the sibling duo in Star Wars."

Leia was diagnosed with stage three soft tissue sarcoma and got surgery to remove the mass. Her oncologist at PetCure Oncology found there was no measurable growth at the site of her sarcoma but also discovered she has a tumor in her lung. The lung tumor is in a difficult place to sample or remove. So the new action plan is radiation treatment to target both areas, but the therapy is expensive.

"The cost of cancer treatment for Leia is much more than our insurance will cover, and we just want to give Leia the best life possible for as long as we can," Sejal says. "We were hesitant putting her through treatment, but if her lung tumor grows, her breathing will be impacted."

Sejal is hopeful the radiation will help keep the tumors at bay, and Leia can continue being the adorable, spunky dog they love.

"Leia has so much personality," Sejal says. "She is so intuitive, and she loves her people so deeply. She guards the shoes in our house to make sure no one leaves. Having her has created happiness and love like no other. It makes us smile and feel so blessed."
