Leia is a 5 year old Poodle in Murphy, TX, who needs $2,000 for X rays and broken bone repair.

Every now and then, a story comes along that stops us in our tracks. Leia is one of those stories.

Leia recently came into the care of CAMO Rescue, and while she’s only about five years old, the life she’s endured is something no animal should ever experience. She flinches at gentle touch and carries the quiet fear of someone who has known pain far too often.

When she arrived, her condition was heartbreaking. She had raw paw pads on all four feet, a severe ear infection, and most devastating of all, her toenails are gone, likely removed intentionally. Every step she takes is painful and she’ll need specialized medical care to treat this.

Even our experienced veterinarian, who has seen so much, was brought to tears.

But Leia is still here. Still fighting. And with the right care, there is hope.

We are now consulting with an orthopedic specialist to explore surgery that could ease her pain and give her the comfort she deserves. This is just the beginning of a long road to healing.
