Leia is a 4-year-old Dachshund in San Antonio, TX, who needs $2,000 for Spinal Surgery.

I got Leia my Junior year of high school! 4, almost 5 years ago. She has a sister dachshund named Gigi, who is 13. My mom named Leia after Princess Leia from Star Wars. She has been my best friend since they day I got her!

Leia loves to sleep in bed cuddled up next to me, or in her own bed cuddled up next to her sister. She used to be very shy and nervous when meeting new people. We moved to Texas and she has met a lot of new people and enjoys all of their company! She likes going for walks around the neighborhood (but cannot do that anymore). & loves to lay in the sun when we have sunny days!

Leia is one of the sweetest babies I know. She is protective over her people, but is all bark and no bite. She will find any way to have her body covered when she sleeps, whether that’s going under a blanket, clothes or even a window curtain! She loves to carry her toys around in her mouth with her tail wagging but also loves to just lay around and cuddle.

We are trying to get her a surgery to have a disc removed from her back, as it is pushing on her spinal cord and making her hind legs very weak. The best possible outcome to recovery would be this surgery but it will be a $7,500 deposit + another $1,000 afterwards. We have seen the neurologist at MissionVet Specialty & Emergency, but I cannot remember the veterinarian’s name.

I had just moved here not too long ago and am a 21 year old student with other bills that I pay each month. I already struggle with affording anything other than my monthly bills and unfortunately do not have any emergency savings, or pet insurance.
