Leo "Luke Skywalker" Scott is a six-year-old Rottweiler mix in Wakeman, OH, who needs $2,000 for critical surgery.

Leo has had a life filled with adversity, just like his namesake, Luke Skywalker. With your help, Leo's human mom, Jennifer S., hopes the force will be with him.

"Leo came to me via adoption from a Rottweiler rescue," Jennifer tells Waggle. "He and his littermates were going to be euthanized because the breeder was upset the puppies had white in their coats."

Jennifer says that Leo has been a part of the family since he was eight weeks old. "He is a best friend to everyone he meets," she says. "He used to love to run around outside chasing balls and going for walks and car rides. Now he seems to have anxiety and doesn't find those things fun anymore because he is constantly rubbing his eyes due to the irritation."

The veterinary team at Med Vet discovered Leo has several eye issues, including one where his lashes rub against his cornea, causing irritation. He needs urgent surgery, or he could lose his eyesight. Jennifer is heartbroken because she can't afford the operation. She has had a terrible 2021. "A series of unfortunate events is an understatement," she says. "My husband passed away. I had to file bankruptcy. I had to hire a lawyer to get things squared away since there was no will. I just want my baby to stop being in pain."

Jennifer says all she wants in 2022 is for Leo to be out of misery and see clearly into the new year and beyond. "Leo is an extremely intelligent furbaby. He rings a bell to go outside. He can open doors. He loves to sneak into the bathroom and jump in the shower with whoever is in there. He also loves to sleep in the bed with his humans. He is quite the snuggler with his smoochie cheeks. He is my clown."
