About this campaign

By the time Leo was surrendered to us, he had gone several days without being able to hold down food or water. He was being left outside unsupervised, with an esophageal foreign body initially suspected due to horrible swelling of his neck. Leo’s owner had removed his collar and not mentioned the injury. Leo was hospitalized, received medical care and is now in our shelter until he find a home.

Leo is an 8-month-old golden, surrendered to RBARI with a hidden injury. After intensive medical care and hospitalization, Leo is healing and doing amazingly – so well in fact that his puppy energy is shining bright! This adorable golden puppy needs an active home willing to provide him with some training, patience and consistency.

Leo is a happy, silly and active golden puppy! Despite being left outside alone with a collar that grew into his skin, and developing a severe injury to his esophagus, Leo's spirit, love for life and devotion to his humans never faltered.

Leo had gone several days without being able to hold down food or water due to horrific injuries to his esophagus. Because his collar had been removed prior to surrender, the damage wasn’t immediately evident. His tight, ingrown collar had been strangling him, constricting his esophagus and creating severe swelling. He was essentially strangled by his collar, which had grown into his skin.

Our resources have been pushed to the limit as the need increases at a distressing rate. We thank you for your commitment to providing personalized care to hurting animals in need, like Leo, when others have failed them.
