About this campaign
Due to neighbor disputes about the local feral cat colony I agreed to foster Leo once it became clear his life was in danger. I am so glad I did because he was destined for the house cat life. Despite his busy schedule (he is employed full time as a cutie pie and part time as a biscuit maker), he always makes times for all the humans and other pets in my household.
While otherwise healthy and FIV/FeLV negative, Leo has advanced periodontal disease and needs all his teeth extracted. This surgery is not yet an emergency because he is still eating, but his mouth is constantly bleeding and he is in pain.
In addition to Leo, I took in his best cat friend Violet, who was pregnant. While I was initially keeping them separate after she gave birth, I slowly introduced Leo to the kittens and saw how gentle he is with them even when they were being menaces. After I let him be around the kitties full time, he took on the role of kitten dad and helped with the grooming and playing.
My partner and I are graduate students with low incomes and one of us recently lost our funding source so we are now living on only the one graduate student income. All the local shelters and rescues are overwhelmed and haven't been able to support us.
