Leo is a three-year-old Maltipoo in Washington, MI, who needs $1,500 for critical surgery.

Leo came into Dusta D.'s life after a divorce. He helped bring joy and healing when she and her children needed it most. But recently, their precious dog was attacked, and Leo needs urgent surgery.

"Leo was attacked by our neighbor's dog, a Husky," Dusta tells Waggle. "He was on his property, and when the Husky started barking and Leo barked back, I attempted to pick Leo up to bring him in, but the Husky quickly grabbed Leo by the neck and pulled him through the fence. It was horrifying to watch and feel so helpless. I'm still having a difficult time coping with it all."

Now Leo needs an operation to fix his leg at Wilson Veterinary Hospital, but Dusta can't afford it. "I am a single parent of four," she says. "The owner of the Husky has not offered to help. Leo needs surgery ASAP. He needs to get better. He has to. It was by God's grace he is still alive."

Leo's family is devastated. They hope you will be part of the holiday miracle they need to help them pay for his surgery.

"From the moment we met Leo, he became a part of our family," Dusta says. "He is a very loving dog and shows it. Leo loves all of us, especially the kids, and their energy to keep him busy. Leo brought joy back into our home, and he is loved very much."
