He Looked Like a Lion… But He Was Fighting for His Life

Meet Leon, who is now under Stray Dog Support's care in partnership with a rescue in Egypt. They named him Leon because he looks like a lion—but the truth is, he shouldn’t. His body is riddled with ulcers and tumors, causing severe swelling and making him much larger than he should be.

Leon is currently at the same hospital as their other dog Justice, receiving the best care possible. Right now, they are still in the discovery stage. Tests have revealed that he has blood parasites, and X-rays show a lung infection. They are now waiting on an ultrasound to understand the full extent of what he’s facing.

For the first time in a long time, Leon is safe. He’s receiving antibiotics, hepatic food, fluids, and vital supplements. Once we have the ultrasound results, they’ll be able to create a clear treatment plan and move forward with his care.

This giant, noble boy has been suffering—but now, he finally has a chance at a fresh start surrounded by lots of love.

But we can’t do this without you.

Thank you to everyone who supported this sweet boy on his healing journey. We are very saddened to share that he could no longer hold on and passed over the rainbow bridge. But we are incredibly grateful that he had the best care, comfort, and much love until the end.
