About this campaign
Levi was a beloved pet, who was imported from Germany, as a puppy. His owner became sick, was hospitalized, and then died. Relatives moved into his home, moved him outside permanently, allowing only partial access to an unheated garage. They tossed a bag of Dollar Store food over the fence, and left him on his own, to starve. He was liberated by a concerned neighbor, who asked for him to be re-homed.
Levi was adopted by his rescue family based on a phone call. Levi was taken to the vet within 24 hours, to access his weakness, and inability to stand. We thought he was just weak from starvation, but we were referred to a neurologist. After having Levi 48 hrs, we were told he would need surgery on ruptured discs, if he was ever to walk again. Due to weakness, he has yet to meet his dobe sister.
Despite all Levi has endured in the last couple of months, he has the sweetest demeanor, and a strong desire to get well, and go for walks. He was only re-homed with us 2 weeks ago, but we already adore him He is a typical doberdork, and just wants love and kisses. 💋 Because he can't walk, he is fitted in a Help em Up Harness. We have to assist him in going outdoors to potty.
Levi is scheduled to have surgery with Dr. McBride, a neurologist, on December 6th. After recovery, he will need therapy to regain his strength, and probably do some hydrotherapy. He also had an infected abscess drained and treated. He has been cared for by MedVet Commerce.
We adopted Levi, believing he just needed to recover from starvation. Within 48 hrs of adoption, we had already spent money on vet bills, and we need $6000-7000 for his back surgery. We do not yet know what rehab will cost. Care Credit was maxed out.
