About this campaign

I adopted Lexi from Pasadena Humane earlier this year. He lives with my roommate and I in an apartment at South Pasadena. His name Lexi comes from rhyming with his ‘actual’ name in Chinese, LaiLai, which means ‘come come.’ I was hoping to adopt a doggy-like kitty that would come when I call. It turns out to be the complete opposite as cats are very independent. But Lexi can be super cuddly too!

Lexi loves to sleep beside me. He loves to be around humans. There aren’t many Humans in his life. My roommate Lisa and I are like his ‘parents.’ When I first got him he could sleep on the same chair with me. Then he grew bigger and moved to my desk. I got a stool for him to sleep on and put it beside my desk because he’s getting too big for the desk now.

His meows are very special, and mostly funny. It’s not like a regular, cute meow that you hear on tv. It’s not even like beautifully singing voices of some other cats. His sound is very talkative. I got used to responding to his calls by just repeating his name over and over. Sometimes I even talk back at him (not sure he can understand me tho..)

He’s got a small intestine blockage possibly from eating plastic tape, the ones that are used for packing. He started throwing up Monday night. I discovered it Tuesday morning. I booked an appointment for him next day and too him to hospital Wednesday morning. He was immediately hospitalized due to severe dehydration.

I’m a graduating student in college. I worked at my school for the year, but I already spent everything I’ve earned on his diagnosis and initial treatment. I am now working 3 part time jobs and am lined up for 2 in the coming semester, hoping to pay for rent, food, tuition.
