About this campaign

We got Lilly from my sister 7 years ago, almost 8. She was a puppy when we got her, and she has grown up with my kids. Lilly was always there for my husband Mike, while his health was failing him. She would sleep on his chest and comfort him. Mike passed away last November, leaving the kids and myself devastated. We cannot bear the thought of having to let her go when this can be fixed.

Lilly sleeps with the kids or myself. She provides us with comfort in the aftermath of Mike's death. She is our constant support. She comes and lays on us and snuggles and helps us get through the bad days. She knows how much we are hurting as we try to get used to life without him. We want to help her as much as she has helped us.

I am a single mother of three boys. I receive Mike's death benefits, and I work as a babysitter. I don't have $3500 to pay for this surgery, and I cannot bare to lose Lilly when she could be helped. She helps us so much with our grief. I don't want her to suffer though.

I took Lilly to four different vets before someone diagnosed what was wrong. The first three vets I took her to just told me it was nothing and she would get better. Finally the last vet diagnosed her with torn ACL's in both hind legs. They gave me the choice of surgery to repair them or having her euthanized. I was quoted $5000 for the surgery, the actual estimate came in at $3500.

Lilly has always been so active and playful. She loves to play with her toys and with the kids. She loved to chase the ball and play fetch with the boys. They always had a great time playing together before her legs started getting weak and giving out on her. Now she is unable to play. She is unable to get up or walk.
