Lily and her sister were adopted by our family after I spent almost ten months bedridden with rheumatoid arthritis. I am a single mother of two losing my independence from several chronic autoimmune diseases. Lily was the runt of the litter and the last two available for adoption. We have had them in our family since they were eight weeks old...a little over two years now.

Lily and her sister Luna are my best friends. Chronic pain and illness can be incredibly isolating. I am basically home bound except for medical appointments. It's hard to maintain friendships when chronically ill. I am in constant pain due to psoriatic and osteoarthritis. Lily and Luna are such a source of comfort and joy in my life. I honestly don't know how I would cope without them.

Lily is an incredibly sweet and spunky little soul. She loves to explore her backyard with her sister Luna chasing lizards and insects. She seems to sense when I am struggling with my pain and will curl up next to me gently and making contact with me. She has the cutest crooked smile and will sit at my feet and stare at me just smiling as I look down from my computer or reading material.

Lily needs surgery to amputate her left front leg after an auto accident in December of 2022. I have spent a little over two thousand dollars trying to save her leg with splinting and vet care to no avail. The leg is worsening and I am out of money. Our family sacrificed añy gifts or celebrating this holiday season to fund her care.

I am unable to work due to my health conditions. I do not easily ask for assistance let alone financial but am desperate to save my best friend!! I worked as a registered nurse for over twenty years caring for others and unfortunately am now unable to provide care for Lily
