Lily is a 7-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier in Sacramento, CA, who needs $2,000 for Multifocal cervical intervertebral disc disease surgical treatment.

Lily was about 8 months old when animal control services were called to get a loose dog with a fish hook in it's nose. I was in need of a new service dog so I went to the shelter to find they were doing free adoptions. It was the day after someone broke into my home in the middle of the night & stole my purse, car keys & jewelry box right next to my bed were I was sleeping. I adopted her that day.

Lily loves everyone. All visitors are family and she treats everyone as if she has known them her whole life and they are her favorite person! The grandchildren are looked after with patience and she distracts them if she thinks they are at risk with their activity. She stays close when they are outside and is always loving and careful. She has been the most wonderful service dog I have ever had.

I am a senior living on a fixed disability income. I can barely make ends meet and I have spent every extra penny I had for her initial exams, tests and x-rays. I love this dog with all of my heart, she is kind, loving and helps me every day make it through every day.

Lily suddenly became lethargic at the beginning of June 2021. She was acting sore & sometimes yelping or screaming in pain when moving. I took her to the vet several times as symptoms were reoccurring & new ones developed, exhausting all my available money on pain medications & x-rays to finally discover that Lily had developed multifocal cervical intervertebral disc disease. She now needs surgery.

Lily gets very excited in the morning when she first sees me. She will grab up a bone or toy and wiggle in circles and loves to hear me ask her what she has. She has been a PTSD support dog for me for 6+ years and she has saved my life, making small errands feel like small errands instead of scary events. She searched my home before I enter after we have been out to assure me the home is safe.
