Lindy is a 10-month-old Italian Greyhound in Chicago, IL, who needs $2,000 for Surgery to Repair Distal Radius and Ulna Fractures, Two Front Legs.

Lindy is a beautiful blue and white Italian Greyhound. He is nearly 11 months old and, at about fourteen pounds, he is on the bigger side for his breed. As soon as we met him, he practically crawled over the other dogs to get to us. We instantly fell in love with his friendly and confident nature. He was with us for 4 days before his accident and in that time he was adjusting wonderfully.

Lindy came from a farm and had never climbed stairs or been snuggled on a sofa. He learned quickly from our other dog, a 9-year old poodle mix, how to sniff around the front yard and wait for treats. After one day he could go up (but not down) the stairs and he was doing a great job acclimating to his crate. He loved his new fluffy bed and getting under the blankets with us.

I love how Lindy sticks his snout either under the pillow or into my neck. He is alert and curious while also being relaxed and calm. From day one, he did not have any hesitation showing my three grown children affection.

Lindy is named after Charles Lindbergh (and the Lindy Hop, our favorite dance). We were calling him Lucky Lindy until he took his first "solo flight" off the bed!

Since his adoption, Lindy had not tried or been able to jump on the bed. We had just sat down to dinner when he disappeared into the bedroom; moments later we heard his bloodcurdling screams. He was on the floor with 2 broken legs. We rushed to the ER, where he stayed overnight, then we drove from Chicago to Wisconsin for surgery at the UW Vet School Hospital and he has been there 5 days.

We have two (soon 3) children in college and the cost of this surgery is staggering. His adoption day was 12/29 and we had pet insurance lined up to start Jan 2, one day before the accident. We are struggling to pay this and worried about future costs/complications.
