Little Momma is a 6-year-old Rat Terrier in Dallas, TX, who needs $400 for Tooth Abscess.

Little Momma came to Pooch Savers Rescue in January of this year following the death of her owner. During our normal vetting process, she unfortunately, because of neglect, tested positive for heartworms, which we treated her for immediately! She finished her treatment in early April.

About a week ago, one morning, she woke up with her face all swollen, so much so that her EYES WERE NEARLY SWOLLEN SHUT! We thought maybe she was bitten by a bug or stung by something during the night, and we immediately took her in to see our vet. The vet agreed that all indications pointed to a bug bite or possibly an allergic reaction to something, so she was put on steroids and Benadryl.

She is thankfully expected to make a full recovery...

We instantly started her on an antibiotic and pain meds, and scheduled her for surgery with Mazie’s Mission. On 4/26/21, the infected tooth was extracted. The vet commented that they had never seen so much pus before, and, had the cause not been determined, she most certainly would have developed blood poisoning, which could have been fatal!

Unfortunately, the medications were not working and, after a few days, the swelling got so bad that an area of skin burst open and began to ooze. We immediately took her back to the vet and it was determined NOT to be a bug bite or allergic reaction but a TOOTH ABSCESS!
