Little Sophie is a 9-year-old Domestic Shorthair in Portland, ME, who needs $650 for Cardiology Consultation and Echocardiogram; Dermatology Consultation.

Sophie is the love of my life. I adopted her 7 years ago from the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland, and she’s changed my life for the better. She's been my sole companion throughout many of my darkest times, including quarantine; having her here means the world to me. I attribute much of what I've accomplished and overcome throughout the last several years to her presence.

Since the day I brought her home, Little Soph has provided me with structure, laughter and unconditional love. In a lot of ways, caring for her has forced me to show up for myself. She wakes me up every morning with purrs and cuddles, and it gives me the energy I need to get myself out of bed and ready for the day. She's a great buffer for my mental health; I feel SO grateful for her.

I am disabled and live on SSDI, which is extremely limiting, especially during COVID-19. I've been able to get her current bills covered by the generosity of folks online. Getting her January bills taken care of will be an absolute blessing and weight off of my shoulders.

Sophie has IBD, and is suspected to have a few autoimmune conditions. She needs medical treatment from a cardiologist to assess her heart murmur and heart disease. She also needs to see a dermatologist to help treat her itchy ears, ear scabs, and hair loss above her eye. She's booked in January 2021 at Portland Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Care's Congress St. and Warren Ave locations.

Little Soph loves to be held, but only if I'm sitting on the couch and her little feet can touch something; she *hates* feeling airborne. She is also quite bold, and has been known to climb into an open fridge in search of catnip, or walk inside a family-sized bag of tortilla chips for a little snack. She never fails to bring a smile to my face, or fill my days with her selflessness and love.
