Help Loki Heal After a Roadside Accident

When rescuers from Baw Baw Animal Welfare found Loki lying helpless by the roadside, they could see the fear and pain in his eyes. This young dog had clearly suffered a terrible accident—he was unable to move, his little legs badly wounded, and his body trembling in distress. Rushed to the hospital, Loki was immediately examined and X-rayed.

The results were heartbreaking: he had a complete fracture in his left femur and a mild fracture in his sacrum. Even worse, his open wounds had become severely infected, and his bloodwork revealed life-threatening anemia. Despite everything he’s been through, Loki’s gentle spirit still shines through. When volunteers visit him, he wags his tail softly, as if to say he knows he’s safe now.

Right now, Loki is on strong antibiotics and antiparasitic treatment for babesiosis, a tick-borne infection that made his condition even more complicated. Once his blood count improves and the infection is under control, he’ll need surgery to repair his broken femur—a crucial step to help him walk, play, and live pain-free again.
