About this campaign

I was fortunate to have adopted Lola on Feb 18th, 2020. It was unplanned, as she was the last of a litter of 3 pups being adopted out in the parking lot of my local Target. Once I saw her I fell in love immediately and took her home. She is a tiny 3-pound Chihuahua that's convinced she's as big as a rottweiler. The two of us live in a hotel for now but hope to save enough for an apartment soon.

Over a year ago Lola started having symptoms of circling and seizures. Based on that and diagnostic tests, the vet's diagnosis was a portosystemic shunt. Meds and low-protein diet helped at first but the occasional symptoms are getting worse. An ultrasound at Alpharetta Veterinary Specialty & Emergency is needed to confirm it's an "extrahepatic" shunt, the type that's often successfully operable.

Lola has a big bark, but once she trusts someone, she's the most loving pup in the world! She enjoys going on walks, playing with other dogs and attempting to boss them around, lol. Her favorite thing to do is cuddle on plush blankets with her bone until she falls asleep. Despite her illness and our stressful living situation, she is always in a playful mood and has been my sweetest comfort.

Two years ago, I abruptly left my ex and then was laid-off from work. I've been stuck with inconsistent jobs ever since. So between that, paying nightly hotel rates, and special dogfood/ meds for Lola, saving up for an ultrasound and potentially surgery has been impossible.
