Lola is a 9-year-old Cairn Terrier in Suffern, NY, who needs $2,000 for Intervertebral Disc Disease Surgery.

We rescued Lola in 2014. She and her two sisters had been used for breeding in a puppy mill, and when they started to show signs of over-breeding they were dropped off at a shelter to either be adopted or euthanized. When she got to NY (from NC), she was matted and shaking, and had had a litter less than 3 weeks prior. We gave her her 1st bath, taught her how to walk on a leash, and loved her.

Lola is the sweetest girl. She's my "shadow", following me from room to room, and she loves annoying her brother, Charlie. She considers my daughters HER daughters, and covers them in daily kisses. If she isn't following me or her brother around, it probably means that she's getting ready to present us with a pile of her many toys, all of which she loves to "groom" and is very proud of.

Lola always wants to make sure that everyone is safe, even if it means putting her head in between people when they hug. She loves to play, but she doesn't quite know how, so it generally involves grabbing at a toy and then hitting it with her paw. Her favorite thing in the world is going outside to sit in the sun. Indoors, she likes to sit backwards and stare at the wall, which makes us laugh.

On June 13th, 2022, Lola stopped walking or standing. I took her to the emergency vet, where we were told that she could still feel in her legs. After further visits to Oradell Animal Hospital, we were told that Lola would need $15,500 surgery to walk again, and that without this surgery, she will be paralyzed and in pain, so we would have to consider euthanasia.

Due to a 4-year divorce, other medical bills, and rent, we cannot afford for her to have this surgery. Losing our Lola would be losing another family member in a year where my girls have already lost a grandfather, and it would devastate all of us.
