About this campaign

Louie, formally known as Nubby, came to our family from Homeless Cat Helpers after I saw his heart wrenching story and his photos online in May. His formal name is Lou Gehrig, as Louie has had to overcome so many obstacles in his short life. He came into our lives in July of this year. Louie lives with 2 other cats, Cali & Zuni and 3 big dogs, Madigan, Caoimhe and Neala.

Louie isn't afraid of anything; in fact, he has to investigate everything! He's not afraid of his dog sisters either! Most days Louie can be founds napping in a cat tree or on the deck box in our sunroom. He's not afraid of taking over a dog bed either. While he's not allowed outside, he does allow us to hold him for a walk outside to see the trees and look for looming big birds.

Louie's best mate is Neala, one of our German Shepherds. They can sometimes be found napping together in the evenings. He enjoys playing with our special needs kitty Zuni too. Louie's favorite toys are stuffed mice and colored springs, which we are constantly looking for. He loves the laser and is completely fascinated by the printer/scanner. He comes running from wherever when he hears it.

Originally it was thought that Louie was born missing a paw on one his back legs, but after x-rays, it was determined that he suffered a traumatic injury after birth. His pelvis and femur were fractured and didn't heal properly. His tibia & fibula haven't grown properly either. He now suffers from excruciating spasms in that leg.

This was a sudden major expense that we weren't prepared for at this time. As a family, we don't want to see Louie suffer in pain or stay on pain medications that could compromise him eventually. He has so much life ahead of him and we want him to be pain free.
