Lovey was a rescue from my local animal shelter. She had been surrendered by her owner and as far as I know she had spent a couple of years in the shelter before I came along. The reason for that, medical costs.
Lovey has an extensive medical history, from ibs to a flea allergy, now possible diabetes. Her stomach issues require that she only eat her prescribed food. Which alone cost $40-$80. Flea medication is usually 30 for a month supply and up to 100 for the 3 month supply.Shelter was Santa Maria Humane Society and All Valley Pets.

Lovey is my first cat and real pet. She has changed my life tremendously and I like to believe I've done the same. When I first brought her home she had a severe issue keeping any food down. Which is why she was on a slow feeder. She over groomed as a way of self soothing. With in the first couple of months, she stopped using the slow feeder, with in the year, she no longer vomited. Etc...

Well, I was recently diagnosed bipolar and with that I've faced a lot of challenges. I am currently on a temporary medical leave of absence waiting on my disability to be approved. I do my best in covering her expenses but its a bit much when she gets sick. Now diabetes.
