About this campaign
While quarantine-camping in the AZ desert on 4/1/20, we watched a man pull his car to the side of the road, open the trunk, and violently dump a cat from a wire trap. Lu was captured, starved, and then abandoned 60 miles from "home". Since then, 4 months of travel on a coast-to-coast veterinary tour has been had, and Lu is now enjoying life with 4 cats and 2 dog brothers in sunny Florida.
Lu is a leash-trained cat who ADORES a 2x daily stroll through the neighborhood. Sitting by the door to let Mom know that his gams need stretching is his very favorite thing. More recently, Lu has decided to join us and his 4 cat brothers for bedtime. His preferred spot on the bed is at Mom's feet. Since day one, Lu has been at ease with dogs, but it wasn't until of late that cats were "friends".
Animals in need often find us and we refuse to turn a blind eye. With 6 other animals in the household during an income-limiting pandemic, we are in need of compassionate assistance. Lu is fighting the good fight and we will NOT be giving up on him.
We are not completely clear as to what Lu's care was prior to 4/1/20, but we do know that it wasn't humane. As such, Lu has been battling upper respiratory afflictions, wheezing, difficultly in depth of breath, anorexia, vomiting, gagging, lethargy, depression, bloating, gulping of air, megaesophagus, acute renal disease, weight loss, heart murmur, dehydration, pancreatitis, and constipation.
Lu loves to play Follow the Leader with his mom, walking across fallen trees in the forest. When she stops at the end of the trunk, he will take a seat proudly beside her to survey the land. Lu's favorite time to dine is in the middle of the night and when he eats, he sounds like a famished, but adorable Gremlin.
