I got my little Sugar Puff as a puppy. I’ve wanted a dog my whole life and he’s my first one! He’s a Maltese, a hypoallergenic breed, which was necessary because my sister, who I lived with, is allergic. We just moved into a new apartment with a friend who has 2 cats. He’s gotten along with them so well so far, better than with dogs, haha! I only call him Luca when he’s in trouble.

Luca is a little squish ball of snuggles. He loves to sit on my lap all day, which is perfect because I work from home. He likes to play chase with a wretched old teddy bear that he tore all the stuffing out of, but he uses it more often as a pillow. Screaming at intruders with his shockingly loud, shrill voice is his other favorite hobby. But as soon as he acquires a lap, life is perfect.

I got Sugar Puff after a rough period of depression. He was the sweetest thing, always wanting to be with me, always happy to see me. He sulks super hard when I’ve left the house. He’ll greet me, then go sit on my roommate’s lap and glare at me in judgement as though to say, “THIS is what you should have been doing all along, mother!” He’s surprisingly smart and picks up new tricks super fast!

Luca has a foreign body obstructing his intestine and stomach. He’s been vomiting and not eating or drinking. I took him to my vet McCurdy Animal Hospital a couple weeks ago, to the emergency vet on Christmas Eve and have been back to my regular vet today. I’ve checked him into another emergency vet for overnight fluids to be strong enough for surgery tomorrow.

I started my own freelance company this year! But it’s a slow start. I’ve been job searching for months for supplemental income, but it takes time. I just had a lot of moving expenses and a huge car repair. I hate to think I can’t care for my baby because I pursued my dreams
