Luci is a 2-year-old Potcake in Bristow , VA, who needs $2,000 for Meningitis.

Sweet Luci came to us after a trip to the island of St. Lucia, hence her name! We heard about a dog shelter on the island and, after seeing the living conditions for so many dogs there, we just knew we had to help in some way. We adopted our Luci, tracked her flight to the US, and went to pick her up immediately. We couldn’t wait to meet our little girl!

Luci is the sweetest, most loyal and protective girl you could ask for. Her absolute favorite things in the world are playing with and fussing at her big brother, Cosmo, and playing with her blue Nerf ball until she literally can’t stand anymore. She is a reluctant attention seeker, pretending she is cool but getting jealous over others receiving all the attention!

If you are outside with Luci and her blue Nerf ball, she will not allow you to stop throwing it! And she’s super sweet but when her brother tries to steal her bone, she bares those teeth and gets feisty! She is such a spunky, upbeat girl and has brought so much positive energy into our lives that we desperately needed, and has helped Cosmo be happier and healthier too! She loves her big Bwotha!

One morning Luci came out from the bedroom with her head titled to the side, and things got considerably worse from there. The emergency vet gave us prescriptions but on a Saturday there was not more they could do - she deteriorated rapidly and Monday we rushed her to Bush Neurology where she was diagnosed with potentially life threatening Meningitis of unknown origin and treated by Dr. Young.

In the course of less than two years we have had many major unexpected expenditures, including HVAC unit replacement, hot water heater replacement, major roof repairs, emergency vet expenses and TPLO surgery to repair torn CCL in our other dog, Cosmo.
