About this campaign
I adopted Lucy last year after she was dumped at a shelter covered in mammary tumors. Several tumors were removed before I adopted her, and several more came up after I adopted her. She has had 3 surgeries so far. The last surgery was a complete removal of her right mammary chain. Unfortunately, one of the tumors removed was a very rare and aggressive type.
Luciana has a dog sister and a cat brother. She is still not too sure about the cat, but she loves her sister and they go everywhere together. We take them out whenever possible; to the beach, breweries, the snow, anywhere dogs are allowed. She loves her family members (especially me, her mom) SO deeply.
Lucy is a very particular dog. She loves being held on her back like a baby, and having her belly rubbed; she hates squeaky toys, when people blow raspberries, and quick movements, and she will be sure to let you know. She loves tucking herself under a blanket, and her favorite time of day is bedtime when she gets to snuggle up with her parents.
Luciana recently had her right mammary chain removed, and her left one is next. Along with the removal of her right mammary chain, a very aggressive tumor was removed. We were told this type of tumor will absolutely metastasize to her lungs or lymph nodes, likely within 6 months of when it was removed. We were advised to start her on chemotherapy and are currently trying to get that funded.
I work for a non-profit shelter and don’t make enough money to fund chemotherapy. To some people it may be just a dog, but I have never loved anything as much as my dogs. I want to give her a fighting chance to beat cancer; I can’t imagine life without her.
