Lucius (“Ludini Weenie”) came into my life just after high school. My manager’s purebred German Shepherd had an accidental litter with a stray, and nobody wanted the tiny runt. I brought him home at 5 weeks old, and he’s been my best friend ever since. He lives with me and his brother, Bodhi, who is currently recovering from IVDD and waiting for Lu to come home..

After suddenly suffering a seizure, Lu’s condition quickly became life-threatening. We rushed him through two veterinary teams before being referred to Metropolitan Veterinary Specialists in Louisville. He underwent emergency life-saving surgery and is now hospitalized in intensive care. He’s recovering with a feeding tube, treatment for pneumonia, and around-the-clock monitoring.

Lu has been my constant companion for 8 years. We call him “Ludini Weenie” because he’s always been our little Houdini, somehow finding a way through everything. He’s goofy, gentle, and never leaves my side. He’s grown up with me through my entire adult life, and he and Bodhi have been inseparable brothers since they were puppies.
