Lucky is a 1-year-old Maine Coon mix in Jonesboro, AR, who needs $2,000 for peritoneal pericardial diaphragmatic hernia surgery.

Lucky was found by a friend who couldn’t take care of him. Lucky was around 7 weeks old when I had brought him home. He was very dehydrated and had tapeworms. I took him to our local veterinarian, she decided to do an X-ray of Lucky, his original diagnosis was an enlarged heart. Recently I had gotten a 2nd opinion, she said he also had an enlarged kidney and referred me to a specialist.

Lucky has grown to be an important part of our family. My daughter says he is my spirit animal. We also have 3 other cats and 3 schnauzers. Everyone gets along well. Lucky is very loving and affectionate. I’ve had quite a few cats growing up, but Lucky is special because I struggle with anxiety and depression. He is a blessing to me and I’m so grateful to have him in my life.

The previous testing cost $2100 and his surgery is estimated to be 4000-6000. I can’t afford to pay for the surgery. So I’m reaching out to any animal lover willing to help with the financial situation for my baby, even if it’s just your prayers I will truly be grateful.

I was referred to MU Vet Health Center. He has been diagnosed with a PPD hernia, not an enlarged heart or kidney. His right and left liver lobes and gallbladder are herniated through his diaphragm and pushing against the sac around his heart. Right now he is has an increased RR. With surgery he has a good prognosis and can live a full life, but without surgery it’s potentially life threatening.

Lucky loves playing with Kitty, Jax and Marsha Brady, which are all rescues that I have taken into our family.
Lucky loves to be petted and loved on. He actually gives hugs and kisses, which is highly unusual for a cat. I love him so much and can’t imagine life without him. He is truly unique and I wouldn’t change a thing about him.
