About this campaign
Lucky has been with Adopt a Cat Foundation for several years. He’s a sweet, resilient boy who lives with chronic feline herpesvirus—a condition that causes frequent respiratory flares. Most days, he’s a little sneezy and snotty, but always full of love and personality.
Unfortunately, this week Lucky took a turn for the worse. He’s currently experiencing the most severe flare-up we’ve ever seen. He’s extremely congested, visibly uncomfortable, and his third eyelid is showing—an indication of how unwell he truly is.
Right now, Lucky is receiving around-the-clock care. He’s on medication, getting regular nebulizer treatments to help ease his breathing, and will be seeing our vet this week to determine how best to support him through this intense episode. Despite everything, Lucky continues to fight—just like he always has.
His chronic condition has sadly made it difficult for him to find a forever home. But Lucky has a permanent place here at the rescue, and we’re committed to giving him the care and comfort he deserves for as long as he needs it.

UPDATE 9/8/25**
Lucky went to the vet, who said that herpesvirus infection can sometimes trigger a severe inflammatory response, or inflammation may spread from the eye to the middle ear, damaging the nerves that then cause the third eyelid to protrude. Lucky is now receiving daily antiviral medication for a few weeks to treat the underlying herpes flare.
Update 10/11/25
Thanks to your generosity, Lucky was able to see an eye specialist, who confirmed that he had Horner’s syndrome, a neurological condition that caused his third eyelid to show. He continued his antiviral medications — and we’re so happy to share that his third eyelid has now fully receded and returned to normal!
This incredible progress wouldn’t have been possible without the love and support of everyone who donated and shared Lucky’s story. From all of us — and from Lucky — thank you for believing in his recovery. While his eye is healing beautifully, Lucky will always need a little extra care and understanding throughout his life. He’s come such a long way, and we know he would truly thrive in a forever home where he can continue to heal both physically and emotionally.
Your kindness gave Lucky a second chance — and your continued support ensures he gets the care he still needs. His medical expenses have been extensive, and every donation helps cover the costs of his ongoing treatment and follow-up care. ❤️ Please consider donating today to help Lucky continue his healing journey.
