About this campaign
Lucretia Bathory (Lucy) came into our lives in 2019 as a gift. She has now been with us for four years as of last Nov! Currently in our household, there is only one other dog, but he is my parents' dog. Lucy is the fur-child between me and Daniel. We chose Lucy because the day we first saw her, we kept thinking of the song "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" and goth bands like Sisters of Mercy.
Lucy loves to steal food from us (which is how she got into the trouble she is in now). We learned that we cannot dress her up because she freezes up whenever we put clothes on her. She loves walking around EVERYWHERE so she is constantly supervised. She must always be first into a room (we are working on that though).
Lucy has the standard qualities of a Dachshund. She's super independent and stubborn. She will not sleep unless there is blankets/cushioning (our bed is basically hers). She loves to whine at your feet when she wants something, therefore she is a "talker." She sleeps with her tongue out in a "blep" so we have plenty of pictures of those.
Lucy got herself into this emergency by stealing food that she should not have. The food contains raisins and she is currently being monitored for organ failure. The hospital we have chosen to go to is called CASE Hospital in Orange County, CA. Dr. Sam Rafia is the one who is treating her. They have been very helpful at this hospital and we've been greatly impressed with their facility and care.
Last year, my family lost our eldest dog, Eleanor (a pug) one week before my birthday in April. Lucy had then got into an emergency completely unrelated to this one and her emergency fund combined with the funerary expenses for Eleanor were extremely hard to recover from.
