Lucy is a Border Collie puppy in Azle, TX, who needs $1,000 for Parvovirus.

When I lost my childhood pet about a month ago, I had no intentions of getting a new dog. Fast forward to today, I adopted a new puppy, Lucy, for my brother who lives 500 miles away. He, too, had lost a dog around the same time I did. Being 500 miles away, he was unable to meet her for the first time. I, on the other hand, took care of her, taught her tricks, and built a strong, unbreakable bond.

She's affectionate yet opinionated. She's sweet and adorable yet goofy. She loves to sleep next to me, but when called upon, she just stares until I either go pick her up or ignore her, which she runs to lick my face. She loves playing tug-of-war with her best friend, Robin, and absolutely adore sneak attacking him. She knows how to be gentle with me yet be rough with my boyfriend and Robin.

As you may know, treatment for Parvovirus is an expensive treatment due to the different types and amounts of fluids, antibiotics, and hospitalization she needs. Because I am also caring for my family, I cannot stretch my finances any further than I already have.

Despite only being 8-weeks old and full of energy, Lucy is now facing a medical crisis that could end her life. When I noticed that Lucy started losing her appetite and becoming lethargic, I became worried that she may have Parvovirus. My worry became more of a reality when she had diarrhea and began to vomit everything she ate and drank. At around 2 AM, I took her to Hillside Veterinary Clinic.

She is special in her own way. She knows she shouldn't go upstairs, but she darts for the stairs anyway. She knows she should come when called on, but she stares with the most adorable eyes, refusing to come. She runs around to build momentum for her attacks, right before she charges at Robin. If that doesn't work out, she hides under the nightstand to prepare for her next attack.
