Lucy is a 5-year-old Great Dane in Belton, MO, who needs $1,946 for TPLO Plate Removal and Meniscus Explore.

One night my husband and I decided we wanted to get a dog. We have 2 small kids, so I wanted a breed that would be friendly with them. I posted in a local mom fb group for breed recommendations. Someone posted a picture of Lucy and said they were fostering her and she was so sweet with her kids. We saw her picture and knew we had to have her and she would be a great addition to our family.

Lucy is 5 years old and a total momma's girl but as long as you are petting her, she will be your best friend. Typically Lucy will follow her mom anywhere-whether they are working from home together or sleeping in the master bedroom, there is nowhere mom will be without her shadow Lucy. If mom isn't available, she will get pets from the kids and even snuggle them on movie nights.

Her favorite activities are walks around the block, zoomies in the backyard and belly rubs. She LOVES pupperoni as well as any table scraps she can get. No other 'treats' are up to her standards. One of her favorite toys is the kid's toy dinosaurs. She is afraid of literally anything from leaves falling to thunder. But watch out for her tail-it's powerful!

A month after we got Lucy she had to have TPLO surgery (on her knee) after doing zoomies in the backyard. We thought she had healed but found out her body is rejecting the plate from the initial surgery. We are out thousands of dollars from the first surgery and now need to pay to reverse it. The surgery will be done by Raymore Veterinary Center by Doctor DeLuke. She will have a 12 week recovery.

We were not anticipating surgery for such a large dog so soon in our ownership journey, let alone 2 surgeries within a year. Having assistance financially with this surgery would be HUGE for our family and mean we can continue to provide comfortably for our kids.
