About this campaign
Our sweet girl Lucy chose my son in 2013. We visited PAWS for a dog to foster; yet when these two played together it was an immediate match. The shelter said Lucy hadn't been interested in anyone like she was with her boy. He's away at college right now, so she currently pals around with me. Lucy is a good natured happy Staffy Bull Terrier, we adore her.⁰⁰0
Lucy loves being near her people, hanging out or chasing a ball, or tugging on a stuffie with us. She's the guardian of the kitties, friends with the neighbor's dogs. She staunchly patrols her yard for invading rodents, chickens, and birds. She's an explorer, but frequently checks on us to make sure we're all right. Having gone through a separation, a subsequent divorce, I was left with bills & a downslide in credit score. My son is on scholarship, but I still help with a lot of costs, dad doesn't help with college. Not trying to whine. I hope to find a way to help Lucy.
While chasing the neighbor's chicken, Lu stumbled in a small drainage ditch in our backyard. Her left rear leg was injured. I had hoped it was a twist or a sprain but x-rays show she blew out her knee. Cranial cruciate ligament rupture. For her breed, the TPLO (Tibial Plateu Leveling Osteotomy) gives her the best chance and a decent recovery.
Lucy is a wonderful companion. She loves to sleep on the bed with you and cuddle into your leg. She wakes up happily wagging her tail while she gives kisses and demands a belly rub!!
She will sometimes bring a bone for us to check out before she chews it. The neighbor dog was visiting, Lucy got a bone for him before getting her own, then sat beside him so they could chew together.
