Lucy is a 12-year-old Basset Hound in Port Saint Lucie, FL, who needs $1,646 for cancer treatment.

Lucy came into Amy H.'s life when she needed a best friend.

"I struggled deeply with missing my mom, who I had recently lost to a car accident," Amy tells Waggle. "That's when I met Lucy. She had been abandoned and needed a mama. I knew she was destined to be mine! I fell in love with her right then and forever."

But recently, Lucy was diagnosed with lymphoma -- just as Amy's husband battles terminal stage four esophageal cancer. Lucy needs chemotherapy, and the couple is struggling to afford it. Amy's husband even offers to sacrifice his treatment so Lucy can receive hers.

"Hope for extending his life now lies with qualifying for cancer trials and traveling for treatment," Amy says. "Lucy's new cancer treatment has left him wanting to receive less so that she may have more."
