Luke is a 1-year-old American Shorthair in Melbourne, FL, who needs $1,500 for a femoral head ostectomy (surgical hip repair).

We think he was a feral kitten before he got a foster home. He was listed as a stray at the shelter. Sebastien and I got Luke at the Brevard County Sheriff's Office Animal Services when he was about 10 weeks old. His foster home named him Luke and we didn't see any reason to change it. He was quickly given the nickname "Luke Couchwalker" by our friends. When we picked Luke up from the shelter he was SO SMALL! The first thing we did was read all the literature we could find on how to best take care of a kitten. We clicker-trained him and gave him lots of treats. He knows down, up, wave, give kisses, high five, pound it, ask nicely, and sit pretty. He also knows what no means but he doesn't always listen to that one. Luke has a golden heart. He breaks up fights if anyone is raising their voice and he will cuddle you and lick your face if he sees that you are crying. He is the best cat in the world.
