Lulu is a 6-year-old Lab Mix in Huber Heights, OH, who needs $2,000 for Right Extracapsular Lateral Suture Implant Removal and Possible TPLO Surgery.

Lulu chose me when I went to the rural Polk County animal shelter in Georgia one chilly February morning. She was only six weeks old and 6-7 pounds. It was cold and she was in an outdoor kennel alone, sitting in a comically large bowl of dog food trying to stay warm. She was the very first dog I met that day and it was love at first sight! She’s been my best friend ever since.

Lulu kinda runs the show. She graciously allows me a very small space in her queen size sleep number bed 😂 and her favorite thing to do is sun herself on the back deck. She’s also become quite the popular patient at our vet and she knows it! She struts her stuff every visit and loving her is NOT optional.

She’s just the best dog, through and through. I’ve never seen such a happy dog and she couldn’t hurt a fly, even if she tried. One summer, she accidentally mushed a cicada she found on the deck and she held vigil and wouldn’t leave its side for an hour. Her enthusiasm is contagious and we can’t wait to become a certified therapy team once we are back on ALL of our feet/paws.

This has been ongoing since January. A reinjury of her CCL/ACL repair and luxated patella surgery required a revision, then became infected and after antibiotics, physical therapy and an ortho consult, she needs the orthopedic surgeon to go in and remove the implants, clean out the infection and replace with sterile materials.

If you know me, you know about my ongoing injuries and that I just had my 5th surgery in 2 years. On top of my bills, Lulu’s surgery will be at least $2225 but could reach or exceed $6k depending on what the surgeon finds when she gets in there/any complications.
