Lulu is a 8 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel in Santa Barbara, CA, who needs $2,000 for Ongoing MVD Treatment, Potentially Surgery.

After years of wanting a fur baby and research, my husband surprised me with Lulu for my 30th birthday. To say it's the best gift I've ever been given would be an understatement. She has lived and traveled all over with us since then - spending the first 5 years in Brooklyn, NY; traveling 9k miles around the US while we lived in an RV; countless airplane trips; and finally now back in California.

After a healthy and adventurous life, Lulu was diagnosed with Mitral Valve Disease - a form of congenital heart failure - in the Spring of 2025. It's been a scary few months, including 2 emergency visits to the vet where she's ended up on oxygen. It is a surgical disease, meaning unless she gets surgery she will not survive the disease and maintaining her health while we navigate this is costly.

She is our fur(st) baby and a cherished member of our family. Although a lot of cavys are perfectly content napping on a couch all day, Lulu loves nothing more than swimming in lakes, fetch at the beach (she could go for hours), playing in the snow, or hiking. She's been my travel companion, office mate, bed buddy, and best friend for 8 years and we love her dearly.

We are lucky, we both have good jobs but have committed ourselves to public service both working in nonprofit for the entirety of our careers. This means we don't have disposable income or savings that would allow us to afford any surgical intervention.
