About this campaign
Lulu was chosen via a breeder. We have known her since she was 2 weeks old. We prepared for her and couldn’t wait to bring her home! She has two doggy siblings Etta (pug) and Aesop (lab/rottie). Pectus Excavatum in dogs is extremely rare and couldn’t be seen on her initial vet check before coming home. Her local vet has never seen one in 20 years of practice.
Lulu came home and fit perfectly. She loved her pug sister and has been a normal, feisty, active puppy. At only 3 lbs she learned the stairs within 2 weeks! She loves to kiss and snuggle in my sweatshirt while I work. She has been nothing but pure joy. The news of this diagnosis was devastating for us.
The surgery and (so far 4 night hospital stay) is likely going to be 7,000 dollars. We were able to pay the 2500 REQUIRED down payment for her to be seen and cared for but not sure how we will cover the rest. We live 2 hours away from Madison
Lulu has pectus excavatum. Her ribs abs sternum grew inward which then squished her lungs and heart. The only fix for this was surgery in which they place stitches around the ribs abs sternum and then connect them to an external fixation cast. She is at UW Madison (WI) and had surgery 8/27. She has been kept in an oxygen chamber and watched closely becuase of her decreased lung function.
We call her the little spider becuase her legs are too long for her tiny body. She has figured out how to climb a blanket to get up ion the couch. She has a gigantic personality. She loves to play and loves string and tuggy. She is extremely special and rare considering her circumstances. A true fighter.
