About this campaign
We adopted Luna in April 2020 following the COVID-19 stay-at-home orders. She was one of a few dogs left at animal control due to her high anxiety - staff believed she had already had a litter of puppies (as a puppy herself) and that she was bred to fight, leading to an intense fear of other dogs. After countless hours of training and support, she is now thriving!
After Luna unexpectedly stopped eating (shocking for a dog who lives to eat), a trip to the ER vet revealed she had mast cell tumors in her spleen that had started to metastasize. We luckily were able to start chemo and medications right away. She will require weekly chemo for a month and then biweekly chemo for 2 months. While the prognosis is unknown, we remain hopeful and committed to her care.
Luna is truly one-of-a-kind. She loves unconditionally, cuddles ferociously, and gives side eye like the sassiest of pitties. She has had a challenging life full of stressors, but she continues to show her resilience and has built a fan club that rivals the most popular of doggie influencers. She has overcome so much, and she has become the best canine friend that we could ask for.
I am a graduate student working with children with disabilities, and my husband just started training for his new job. Thus, our financial resources are stretched thin. Luna is our heart dog, so we are doing everything possible to prioritize her care.
