About this campaign
Luna was adopted at 6 months from the Animal Shelter while I was still working. I've had her for 5 years now and we've shared many exciting adventures over the years such as going to the beach, experiencing snow, and hiking at Yosemite. I've since then retired, living on a limited income. Even still, I've mostly managed to do the best I can for Luna and her brother up until now
1 week ago, a lump began growing beneath her left cheek. Yesterday it was so large that it burst, covering her fur in blood. It's been leaking clear fluid non-stop and there's some yellow-ish pus. Now there's a dime-sized hole, open-wound on her neck. I've been cleaning it with a warm towel and antiseptic spray, but the Veterinarian at Abby Pet Hospital Fresno says it's going to require surgery.
Luna is a highly intelligent and loving companion. She constantly observes people trying to figure out what your next move is going to be, whether it's offering up scratches or following you to the next room, she's always there to help. She's also very patient with other animals including dogs, chickens, and cats. She understands commands despite never having received formal training.
I'm a Disabled Veteran & no longer able to work. The VA gives me a limited income, but my small savings was used up when I replaced our old laundry machine & got plumbing done. I don't go out much or do much of anything anymore. Luna & Duke are the only friends I have left
