About this campaign
I adopted Luna from a rescue in Las Vegas in 2018. We have moved 3 times as I try to get my career back on track after a divorce. We currently live with family to keep costs down, in central New York state. Luna suffers from severe allergies and her prescription food and frequent vet visits use up a big chunk of my income. She has learned to take pills like a champ.
At our last routine visit to Liverpool Village Animal Hospital in Liverpool NY, we decided to take action regarding a lump on Luna's front right leg. The doctor discovered it is mast cells - a form of cancer - and must be removed as soon as possible. Surgery is set for March 30th. Then a biopsy will determine if we are in the clear of if it's much more serious. Fingers crossed.
I am single, in my senior years, and with no children. Luna is my life. Everything I do is for her. From our first day, she has been very attentive, sweet, and present. She loves every person she has ever met. She sleeps alongside me - pressed up against me - every night. She lays next to me every day while I work from home. She is not my dog, she is my daughter. I can't imagine life without her.
Like many people, I live paycheck to paycheck. I simply don't have $3000 for this surgery. I barely have the $400 - $500 each month for her prescription food and vet bills. I'm selling off my photography gear on Ebay. It's a very stressful time.
